We Can’t Wish Away Al Gore

This is a Response to Al Gore’s February 27th, 2010 Op-Ed “We Can’t Wish Away Climate Change” in the NY Times – Here

“It would be an enormous relief if the recent attacks on the science of global warming actually indicated that we do not face an unimaginable calamity requiring large-scale, preventive measures to protect human civilization as we know it from Al Gore.”

I find it amazing how I can simply add “from Al Gore” to his opening paragraph above to change the entire meaning of his long rant in the NY Times.

The first glaring statement of misdirection is in the opening paragraph where for dramatic theatrical emphasis Mr Gore proclaims to want to “protect human civilization as we know it “. This is from the man who believes we can RePower America in 10 Years and that a regressive tax on energy is the solution forcing us without choice to adjust our lifestyles and patterns of consumption and personal behavior, which I might add is how we define our civilization, just as weather patterns over long terms define our climate our behaviors combine to become our civilization as we know it. You can then add in some central control of the Power Grid down to the home appliance level to enforce these changes and we do get a shift in human civilization, backwards, to a time when the people had no freedoms to choose and the only hope was to cross an ocean and establish a New World. Al Gore and his ilk are not trying to save our great societies of the world and preserve our human civilization he and they are trying to remake it in his own vision by moving backwards to a time when rulers decided every matter for all the people and that any dissent was destroyed where any deviation from the norm, any questioning of the decisions was met with cries of heresy and persecution. Sounds too dire? Lets quote Al Gore.

Emphasis mine…

“we should have no illusions about the difficulty and the time needed to convince the rest of the world to adopt a completely new approach

“The decisive victory of democratic capitalism over communism in the 1990s led to a period of philosophical dominance for market economics worldwide and the illusion of a unipolar world.”

The implication by Mr Gore is that Democratic Capitalism has run its course, which is what all Progressives think and are the words contained in every Socialist leaders speeches for the past 30 years. Yet he calls for Global Regulations on the illusion of an unipolar world, thereby making it more real?

“including the replacement of newspapers and magazines by television as the dominant medium of communication — conferred powerful advantages on wealthy advocates of unrestrained markets and weakened advocates of legal and regulatory reforms”

“Some news media organizations now present showmen masquerading as political thinkers who package hatred and divisiveness as entertainment. And as in times past, that has proved to be a potent drug in the veins of the body politic. Their most consistent theme is to label as “socialist” any proposal to reform exploitive behavior in the marketplace.”

Two shots at the marketplace of ideas fostered by the right of free speech that allows democratic societies to function without fear of tyrannical rule decreed by the body politic and a passing lamented reference to to the loss of influence by liberal print media.

“what is at stake is our ability to use the rule of law as an instrument of human redemption. After all has been said and so little done, the truth about the climate crisis — inconvenient as ever — must still be faced”

The “there ought to be law forcing people to do what I think is right” liberal thinking pattern that when I hear it I immediately think there probably should not be a law if someone is saying that.

Then Al Gore closes with my favorite part of his piece…

“Public officials must rise to this challenge by doing what is required; and the public must demand that they do so — or must replace them.”

We, the public,  have been doing that all year Al baby! Have you not been at least reading the NY Times politics pages. Perhaps you missed the public actually electing people who represent their values, nobody will get elected on Cap and Trade this fall Mr Gore. Wishing the reality of that away will not save your investments or the repercussions that are coming for you personally in the form of Public Officials rising to the challenge to do what is required by the public, and that is to defeat this Climate Alarmism, and that means you Al Gore personally will pay for the scam you have been running to enrich yourself.

Thanks for the Pep Talk Al Baby! Should have taken my advice
